What is Disaster Risk Reduction?

Disaster Risk Reduction was introduced in the Philippines in the year 2009 as a Republic Act 10121. It was put into action the next year. The Disaster Risk Reduction is a system that deals with preparing the country for disasters. It manages and organizes how the knowledge would be taught throughout the country. The act also deals with the system on the release and distribution of aid and relief goods.

Why is it important?

DRR aims to get the country and its people ready. They make sure that in case of emergencies, there will less deaths and damages and help is made available to all. It also identifies the places that would be in most danger of specific hazards. Knowing about the disasters is the first step. This will keep you and your family informed.
